We hope to share and support others that are interested in or have built their own family through the loving option of adoption.
As well, to pass on info which may be helpful as to those who desire to learn more. Especially about Canadians adopting.
Our biggest struggle was to find info in NB as well as beginning the steps for an International Adoption.
We began over 5 years ago by inquiring about Foster Parenting. Where as we did not have any children, we did not feel this was our route. We wanted a forever family.
Our daugther, Parker was conceived in '97 with the aid of the combination of Provera & Clomid. Over 2 years of infertilty, can we say YAHOO! Tara was in disbelief and we were
both so thrilled.
The pregnancy was far from perfect and met with several difficulties.
At 11.5 wks. Tara began to bleed. To our relieft an ultrasound revealed everything was fine, there was the one strong heartbeat.
Tara had severe morning sickness throughout the entire pregnancy. Diclectin was of some assistance. Atleast we were able to go out to a resturant, if we sat near the restrm. JUST to be safe. Tara could keep some things down but still had
a bit of trouble.
Parker Danielle was born 6.5 wks. early on Oct. 17th/97 at 4lbs. 10oz. Tara's body was beginning to shut down due to severe pre-eclampsia or HELLP Syndrome.
Eighteen months later her body was back to normal. NO more bp medication and Parker was no longer the tiny preemie. She was walking, talking and taking charge!
Fall of '99, we inquired about Adoption. We learned of domestic adoptions from within the Province as well as International. The preference was certainly on the domestic program without International workers or agencies within our Province. So we furthered a domestic adoption.
While waiting on the homestudy we decided to go another route and researched an adoption for the US. This was met with opposition. It was another 1.5 years before we heard from the Provincial Dept. again.
