Our adventure...

July 9th - Emailed Societe Formons Une Famille with questions.

July 10th -

We are back from vacation, back to work and the normal routine. We had a great vacation at Prince Edward Island! We're anxious to meet with our social worker tomorrow. We're getting closer to Cambodia! Tara emailed the Societe Formons Une Famille yesterday with some further questions.

July 11th -

We met with our worker tonight. We both really like her. She's realistic without bias's. We're glad this is the worker who is doing our study. Everything went well. We're waiting to hear back that Cambodia and Societe Formons Une Famille are acceptable. I guess the provincial worker didn't listen to her messages or read the forms we sent back stating Cambodia as our choice. As well as to get back to us if that was a prob. We really have our hearts set on Cambodia and have been researching the country. Crossing our fingers that everything works out.
Our next meeting with be on Wed. the 18th. Here at the house.

July 12th -

Emailed Societe Formons Une Famille again. We haven't heard back from our previous email. The worker was waiting for a meeting(tonight) with the Executive VP before she could answer our questions. Should and hoping to hear back from them on the 13th. Friday the 13th!
We have begun looking at other countries again incase we are not allowed to work with Cambodia. Hopefully that doesn't happen!

July 15th -

We drove to Odell Park in Fredericton this morning for the IAFNB playgroup! What an incredible experience is all I can say! We both enjoyed the day as well as Parker. She loved every aspect of the day ... meeting and playing with new children. The people were wonderful. Sharing their experiences and gorgeous children, it was amazing to see the final result of this long process.

On the other end, the down side .. we do not qualify for the International Adoption Plan with the National Bank of Canada. We are not "worth enough even though we could make the payments". Go figure, eh!?! We'll work with our Bank of Montreal and will be following the same plan of trying to cover as much of the expenses as we can. If we have to, we'd sell the new van! Discouraging but not worth giving up!

July 18th -

1st visit with the social worker here at the house for inspection. Paid her $300.00CAD down.

July 19th -

Found out today that the agency, Formons une Famille does not wish to work with non-Quebec residents. They are the only agency in CA which works with Cambodia. SOOOO, after that major disapointment and anger we're looking at the other countries we had picked. They had previously stated over the phone that it would not be a problem and they were willing to work with us. We also called MAPS in Houlton, Maine about their Cambodian program but they can not work with Canadians. It never ends, eh.

July 24th -

The social worker called us back so we were able to let her know about the change of plans. We are going to concentrate on the US. Hopefully an agency within Georgia. We're waiting for their info. to arrive and have heard wonderful things about the agency. There are actually others in NB who have gone this route. When initially thinking of an international adoption, we looked at the US. Perhaps this is where we were suppose to go all along. We'll see how everything works out. If all goes according to plans, what's the odds of that, eh ~Laugh~, the homestudy should be complete and approved in Sept.

July 31st -

There was a message on the machine when we returned last night. The social worker does not see any problem with concentrating on the US and wanted to confirm our meeting for the 1st.

Things have been a bit busy lately. Paul's niece is home from ON to visit. We went to Canterbury over the w/e. It was wonderful to see them again! They are coming here to visit this week. Looking forward to that.

Tara's Great Grandmother passed away on the 29th. This week Tara is working the 11hr. days and minus the second person on phone support, we're expecting company, Wade, Tricia & the kids are visiting, the wakes and funeral, meeting with the social worker while Tara trains and starts her sister at work. It's time for another vacation if it wasn't so much work!

We received the package from the agency, Open Door so we're ready to roll. Feeling better about the whole process now.
