Our adventure...

June 1st -

We received forms which were missing from our file neccessary to begin the homestudy. Couriered to us by our provincial social worker. How's that for service! Once they are filled out and returned, hopefully the homestudy begins. Called the prov. social worker to thank her for sending the forms and letting her know Cambodia will be our country.

The completed forms where sent back to Fredericton(NB) for the provincial social worker. They stated Cambodia as our country of choice. Hoping to hear back from her today. I expect a bit of opposition on our decision. When we had last spoke(Feb.'00) we were looking at adopting from the US. Called the National Bank of Canada for further info on their International Adoption Loan. Buddy was really helpful, gave me the location of the branch in Edmunston. He also took our name and # for a branch rep. to contact us within the next couple of days.

Today is Paul's 32nd Birthday day!

Waiting to hear from the homestudy worker as to when we can begin and hash out the details of the homestudy. Payment, meetings, requirements etc. So, to date we are waiting to hear from the provincial social worker that Cambodia is ok and that she has received our forms, the homestudy worker to get things set up.
We're still surfing around the net researching Cambodia as well as others who have adopted there. Let the paper chase and waiting begin. Honestly though, everything has fallen into Gods plan. The waiting, infertility struggles and frustration has made us the people we are today. All preperation for our next child, somewhere in this world.

We heard from a social worker interested in doing our homestudy today! Thing is, it was the wrong social worker. It appears our file was sent to the wrong worker. Instead of going to Woodstock, the file was sent to St John. Quite a difference in distance to those areas from here at home! St John wanted to set up a meeting Mon. the 11th for 2PM. SO, I call the worker in Fredericton to see where our file should be and if we are to take this appointment. CROSSING my fingers the whole time that we will not have to travel to St John! The worker in Fredericton is out for the day. I talk with the operator there and then to another social worker who works with this lady. She'll try getting ahold of her so we can call St John back as to whether or not to take the appointment. I guess it was a big mix up and our file was sent to the wrong area. St John will send the file back to Fredericton, they will in return send it off to the correct worker in Woodstock. I can see many more days like this ahead! Gotta have a sense of humor, right. All in His time!

The social worker for our homestudy called this evening as we were vegging out infront of the tube. I figured it would be atleast a wk. at the earliest before we'd hear anything from her. Paul chatted with her on the phone for a bit and then informed me that it will probably be after our vacation (2nd wk. of July) before we start meeting. It would be great to start sooner but will work out good for both of us. Us finanacially and her work wise. Still amazed that this is finally going to happen!
We've been keeping busy putting in flower beds and pots. Staying busy is best! It is going to be a long yr.

Tara has been extremly restless lately. It's hard seeing the goal infront of us without being able to do much about it. She got on the phone tonight and called the social worker. Just to introduce herself and let her know that we are willing to travel to meet her, only an hr. away and that Pauls hours have changed. With Tara working from home, she can be a bit more flexable than him. The social worker is going to call us this week to tell us when and where we will meet. She will be at our local(Perth) hospital 2 days a wk. so we'll probably be meeting there. REALLY looking forward to getting the ball rolling!

Just a bit frustrated and a bit miffed that NO call came this week or weekend as to when/where to meet to get started! It has been 1 month since our file came up for the homestudy. Not to mention the 1.5 yr. that we have been waiting for our file to come up. We realize the social worker is a person also but are so anxious start. Can't be chipper all the time I guess, eh.

Today is our 8th Anniversary.

YAHOOOO! The social worker called tonight! We've set meetings for when we return from vacation. Within 3-4 meetings, the homestudy will be complete. Back in the game again! We're so excited! It's going to happen!!!
